I work for the Department of Natural Resources in Madison and came across your website while looking for images of the Montello River to use in a small piece about the watershed we will be putting on a future DNR website. I saw an immature bald eagle eating on a dead deer carcass in a corn field yesterday on Cty Rd F. Didn’t have my camera along, darn.

I have also noticed increased eagle sightings between Briggsville and the Dells.

Not sure of the reasons, but am delighted of increased opportunities to view these majestic and beautiful birds!

I love Tamaracks, too. I’ll have to look for the bubbling mud at Summerton. I’ve never seen it. I also like the look of the blue berry cones on the red cedar this time of year. km

Interested to see your post on the tamarack tree. They are also one of my favorites!

I love their summer needle plumes and fall bright color. Am also fascinated by their prehistoric history.

My favorite spot to view them up close is at beautiful Summerton Bog in Marquette County. You can also find a bubbling spring of mud – ust like in Yellowstone but without the thermal!
