Waiting to be a Monarch Butterfly

Actually, this fat fellow is working on, not waiting on, becoming a Monarch butterfly.  He or she is eating his way to forming a chrysalis that will become the butterfly.  Monarchs eat and lay their eggs on milkweed plants. This is actually a whirled milkweed that this caterpillar is on, not the typical tall, thick leafed milkweed most of us are used to seeing. Go to Monarch Butterfly USA for one of many sites where you can learn about these wonderful creatures. You can find them in Marquette County. That’s where this guy, working on becoming a butterfly was snapped.
