Sadie

Let’s talk about my book, “Sadie – The Least of These”

I wrote Sadie, the Least of These because of my strong support of direct care workers and the need to examine the culture of caring in our country. Some people don’t believe what happens in the novel would never happen in real life, but that’s not true. It does and ignoring how we are all a part of it will never make change happen.

I think it’s wonderful that Kathleen has chosen to write a book on the subject of some of the horrible things that patients in nursing homes face. I would think that most of these people are not fully capable of fending for themselves and they need more people like Kathleen to help open people’s eyes. I do not yet have any parents, friends or relatives in a nursing home but I know that day will come. I shudder to even think about it with the horrible things that can happen to them. A nursing home is just not automatically a safe haven for loved ones anymore! The world needs more people like Sadie who took it upon herself to take action and like Kathleen who has the ability to get the word out.
