Good morning.  See you in class this afternoon.  Have you been writing this week?   Hope so.  I’ve been researching Tamarack trees to write an essay on them for the John Muir book I’m co-authoring.  They are one of my favorite trees and are a kind of larch.      Here is a photo of their small cones and feathery needles.

    Interested to see your post on the tamarack tree. They are also one of my favorites!

    I love their summer needle plumes and fall bright color. Am also fascinated by their prehistoric history.

    My favorite spot to view them up close is at beautiful Summerton Bog in Marquette County. You can also find a bubbling spring of mud – ust like in Yellowstone but without the thermal!

    I love Tamaracks, too. I’ll have to look for the bubbling mud at Summerton. I’ve never seen it. I also like the look of the blue berry cones on the red cedar this time of year. km
