Hello Forest Lane 3rd graders!

Hello 3rd graders.  Friday, we will be learning about the ICE AGE and FOSSILS with Betty, Blanche and Beulah.  Let me introduce you.

Betty, Blanche and Beulah are Therapy Dogs who help children and adults learn about Marquette County.  They’ll be with me on Friday during our adventure in your classroom, but they’ll stay on leashes so they don’t get in our way while we learn.   I’ll tell you more about Betty, Blanche and Beulah on Friday.

WE LOVE Marquette County.

Here is what we will learn on Friday:

  1.  What is a FOSSIL
  2. How do fossils form?
  3. What are fossils made from?
  4. What is a PALEONTOLOGIST?
  5. What fossils can you find in Marquette County?
  6. What is the ICE AGE?
  7. What was Marquette County like during the ICE AGE and before?

Here are some students who have learned about fossils from Betty, Blanche and Beulah.

We used a description sheet to sort fossils. The sheet gave us the name of the animal and how old it was and what period it lived.

We’ll learn about how over 10,000 years ago, a big sheet of ice called a GLACIER covered Marquette County.

12,000 years ago a glacier covered part of Wisconsin and most of what we now know as Marquette County.

What kinds of animals do you think lived here then?

We are looking forward to Friday when together, we’ll learn about fossils and the ICE AGE in Marquette County.  You’ll even get to act like a paleontologist and label a fossil that you can take home to show to your family and friends!

See you Friday for FOSSILS with Betty, Blanche and Beulah
